Pwarchive has been contacted by the Church Music Publishers Association and have been asked to remove all lyrics from the site due to copyrights. Over the next few days, work is going to be done to comply with this. Please join the mailing list for all future updates. Want to help? Details Obtaining Licenses To legally be allowed to show the lyrics requires songs to be granted licenses from the publishers. Pwarchive will try to negotiated licenses, but requests such as in the past have been denied. If there is a change in this, it will be communicated via the mailing list. If you are a music publishers and would like to talk about granting a license to Pwarchive, you can contact us via e-mail. How do I help? First of all, please pray. I know many of you have and many of you current do. Thank you. Please continue to pray about this. If you go to worship concerts and have the chance to speak with worship authors. Please let them know about this great website and let them know what a blessing Pwarchive is. Also ask them to speak with their publishers about getting their songs on to Pwarchive. Below is a letter which can be printed and handed to them. If you do hand out this letter to a worship author, please let me know. Future Versions Pwarchive has been working on a next version for some time now. This future work needs to be revised because of the removal of lyrics but plans for the future release to both comply with copyright laws and also provide churches with valuable worship resources. Again, please join the mailing list to be notified when the new release is ready.
Petition Currently, there is a petition to request members of the CMPA to grant licenses to Pwarchive. The petition will express the regret that users of Pwarchive have over the decision to remove all lyrics and also make a request to work with Pwarchive to provide licenses so that the service and be responsed. Please consider signing the petition if you have been blessed by Pwarchive and want to see the service continue to run. The petition can be found on petitiononline.com. Outrage When lyrics were first removed from the site, many of you expressed a lot of outrage. I expect there be a similar response to this. Before you react, please understand that the music industry and the world of copyrights is very complicated and many of us (including myself) do not have all the information to be qualified to pass judgement. Please consider signing the petition so that we may be able to voice our concerns to the music publishers. Are you a publisher? To all music publishers out there, Pwarchive would love to create a partnership and license lyrics for this website. Pwarchive will ready to have discussions over licensing and if any costs are involved, we are ready to purchase these licenses. Additional, if a completely free model does not sit will with you, we can discuss alternative forms of lyrics distribution. Please contact us today. Alternate sources of lyrics Many of you will still need lyrics on a week-by-week basis for church. The only suggestion that we can offer is that churches sign up for the Song Select service from CCLI. It's not free, but you will be able to get lyrics there.
